Youth-led Community Service-Learning Projects

Our Community Service-Learning projects are implemented through our Character Education program by utilizing positive character words, lesson plans and mentors. Each year our youth, with help form staff, families and community member, focus on one or two new projects to help strengthen and enhance our community.

In May 2020, led by Youth at Kids 1st Center Clanton, Alabama collaborated with Alabama Arts Council and  some caring friends to produce a positive inspirational song called: Love Comes In All Colors….Imagine, Believe and Achieve.

In January 2011, led by the youth at Kids First Center, Alabaster became the first city in Shelby County, Alabama, to have a street dedicated to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This major accomplishment was done as part of a year-long service-learning project.
